Design questioning The cabinets along the perimeter of the kitchen feature Wood-Mode’s Vintage Jasmine finish and are topped with dark granite counters. This combination is significantly different from the color selection on the island. The kitchen benefits greatly from the contrast, but not everyone was convinced it would work. “Everybody questioned me on that,” says the homeowner. But the instinct to mix different materials versus matching everything was right on. “Because of the expansiveness of it, it would have been a little monotonous,” says Mugavero. “All these different surfaces came together to create ambiance.” The kitchen contains more design nods to the mountains out the window by bringing the inside in. Stone on the exterior was brought into the house and wraps one wall containing the hood and stove. Artwork such as the beautiful piece above the stove featuring horses expands the natural theme. Directly off the kitchen is a terrace with a heavily used BBQ. “We use it even when it’s raining,” adds the homeowner. |
